Never Ending
by
Mark M. DeRobertis
If I was closing my eyes for just a second
What will I see again when I open them
New worlds and lives would appear and new dimensions
Not like I’ve seen before nor will I again
How long have I been a part of all this plasma
If that is what it is called to use a word
Not that I know if it’s true that I am speaking
Sounds that are said but I doubt they’re even heard
Senses now are nothing like I ever knew before
Something like a radar screen but obviously more
Taking in so much I never knew could be so vast
Diff’rent ways to see the space I’m traveling so fast
I’m like a bat who’s in a deep, dark cave
With sirens wailing out loud
You’d think by now I’d be a lot more brave
But I don’t think that I’m feeling so proud
I thought that ev’ryone would choose to live
Forever if they all could
I’ve heard them speak about what they would give
But now I know it’s not something I would
Wonders...sightful, blazing wonders
Thunders...loud and booming thunders
Feeling a new sensation reeling
No words are good enough to really tell
The story that I’ve been through
A writer probably could do it well
A poet might describe ev’rything too
These memories of what I had one day
Are full of dreams in my life
It keeps me going as I’m on my way
While cutting through the void sharp as a knife
Seeing...with no reaction visions I cannot describe
Being...a new distraction I feel the energy ride
Through me...and all around me as I’m absorbing it all
To me...as though a sponge was soaking a huge waterfall
Something’s in the making like a brand new institution
It’s there for the taking if you’re seeking absolution
Never ending never will end that I know
Never ending time and again
Never ending never up high or down low
Never ending never know when
Who will know me, who is to know
That I’m here, who will know me
Nowhere to go
Never ending never again will I know
Never ending nothing at all
Never ending no one’s aware, or if so
Never ending, rising or fall
Distant future, only for me
All alone, nothing human
Nothing to show
Never ending, living a dream that’s not mine
Never ending always the same
Never ending sifting the sands throughout time
Never ending no one to blame
No one hears me, no one to see
Or call out, no one’s for me
Nowhere to go
Never ending, living on endless as time
Never ending not what you think
But all I know is now I am here
And ev’ry time I think about who I am
Part of a life that seems ever near
Will I begin to understand what I am
